What better way to celebrate summer than down by the sea?
This week at Brookeside we did exactly that! Campers began the week by making cheerio Octopus and tissue stuffed puffer fish! We learned about traits and behaviors of different sea creatures, talked about our favorite things to find at the beach, and what it would be like to live in a sand castle! Campers created handprint crabs, sponge-painted hermit crabs, sequenced seahorses, and paper bag jelly fish, all while sharing some of their most fond beach and vacation memories. We also incorporated delicious and healthy versions of fun and easy beach snacks! Campers used fresh beets from our garden to make beet brownies and had a blast making a beach scene in a cup with pudding, cookie crumbs, and Swedish fish. Although we were all sad to say goodbye on our last day of camp, we made the most of our day and spent the afternoon relaxing and swimming at the Bally pool. We wish good luck to all our campers and their upcoming adventures in a new school year. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered, donated, and, spent time celebrating summer with us! We hope to see you next time and have a fabulous rest of the summer.
