Music

If you are in the school building on Wednesday mornings you will see students sing, move, and dance. During class students study musical concepts such as pitch, tempo, volume, and articulation. They learn about a steady beat, and play basic rhythms by rote.  They also learn about the major scale through hands-on activities and practice playing instruments as a small ensemble.

Mrs. Larkin demonstrates many different instruments to the students. The students learn about timbre, and how different instruments are made of different materials and thus have different sounds.  They discover that different size instruments have different ranges.

Throughout the year students work on developing good singing voices and being able to follow different rhythms. Each class will rehearse songs for our annual spring program. Families are invited to this fun evening to watch our talented singers perform!
