What a “zoo”pendous week we had at summer camp!

Our campers began the exciting week by making handprint flamingos and tie-dye peacocks. On Tuesday, we had a visitor from Party Animals, a traveling petting zoo, come and share some exotic animals with us. Our host not only told us about each of her animals, but we also had a close look and gave a gentle pet! Some of our favorite animals were the chinchilla, baby alligator, hedgehog, and the friendly python!

The fun at Brookeside certainly did not stop there! Campers made snakes using bubble wrap, paint, and paper plates and then we hung them from the classroom ceiling! We took at virtual field trip to the San Diego Zoo, watched live footage of the animals, and got to design our own zoo! On Friday we read “Please, Mr. Panda”, the story about a Panda who tries to sell doughnuts to his friends. In celebration of this silly book, we made zucchini doughnuts that were healthy and delicious! At the end of the week, we kept ourselves busy by making swinging monkeys, alligator sticks, and cooling ourselves off during water play. Overall, it is easy to say we had nothing less than a “zoo”per time!
