We were certainly busy bugs this week at summer camp!

We began our week by making lady bug hats and grass skirts; creating the perfect, buggy costume.  We designed butterflies out of coffee filters and misted them as they turned to tie-dye in the sun. We learned about the different types of bee dances and used yellow paint and bubble wrap to make our own luscious, honey hives. Campers made spiders that are hanging from our classroom ceiling and got sticky fingers while making fresh squeezed lemonade and ants on a log (with choices to substitute the peanut butter).

Most campers would say that one of our favorite memories of the week was our last morning spent at Mrs. Marks’s woods. Our week filled with insect knowledge was put to the test as we competed in a friendly scavenger hunt to look for different bugs and habitats, along with plants, trees, and birds around the woods. We took a sensory walk in the garden and enjoyed a healthy and sweet homemade popsicle treat. A huge thanks to Mrs. Marks for putting the field trip together and making it such a fun morning for everyone!
