On Wednesday, November 16 two pilgrims came to Brookeside Montessori to tell us the story of the first Thanksgiving.

They showed our curious students foods the pilgrims would have eaten and the tools they would have used. After the presentation each class had an opportunity to use these items. At the end of the event each child got to meet Jack, a live turkey.

This program from Quiver Farm is a Brookeside Tradition, and we thank the Brookeside community for helping to raise funds to have school assembly programs visit.

Cunkles? What are cunkles?

OH! Now we KNOW! Turkeys have… feathers, a wattle, a snood, a beak, feet, AND CUNKLES! (the wrinkles on their heads which change color with body temperature!)
