A week of celebrating our pets, friendships, and families

During our seventh week of camp we enjoyed many stories from author and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats. We started the week reading Pet Show! and made a graph of our pets. Cats were the winners! Later in the week we read the story Hi Cat! and decorated a rice cake to look like a cat face. The children enjoyed this project and snack. Campers practiced writing skills after reading A Letter to Amy and created a family tree including their pets after listening to the story Peter’s Chair.

Throughout the week, several campers were able to bring their pets to visit. They shared what it was like caring for their family pets. The highlight of our week was a visit from Miss Alison from Party Animals. Campers got to meet some unusual and exotic pets like a skunk, a hedgehog, ferrets, lizards, and snakes. It was a great time meeting these special animals.
