We had a very exciting month at Brookeside Montessori!

In Reading, we read stories focusing our attention on characters, settings, and problems and solutions.  We read King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub, Should I Share My Ice Cream? , Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and Parts.

We were introduced to the letters A, P, and F.  We made apples for A, painted with pink and purple paint for the letter P, and glued feathers on a lowercase f.

In Geography, we learned about a peninsula, a gulf, and an island. We used landform trays, playdough, and mashed potatoes and gravy to sculpt our understanding of these landforms.

We had a visit from the fire station to help students learn about fire safety.  We also identified other community helpers.

In Science, we read the story, Stellaluna to introduce our lesson on Bats.  We identified diurnal and nocturnal animals.  We made a Venn diagram of bats and birds after reading Bat’s Big Game.  The students made their bats fly using paper towel rolls and string.

We celebrated our 2nd annual Jack- o- Lantern Jubilee where families carved pumpkins and enjoyed showing off their creations!  It was a lovely night to spend time with the students and their families. We had a blast!

For Halloween, we showed off our costumes with a wonderful Halloween parade and enjoyed receiving treats when we went Trunk – or – Treating!!!

We had a fun-filled October!
