The Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students baked homemade, healthy dog and cat treats.
They bagged and sold the treats to raise money for the animals in the Montgomery County SPCA. The children used their math skills to measure ingredients and then had fun using dog-shaped cookie cutters to get the treats ready for baking. The cat treats were made of flour, cheese and chicken broth. The children thought they smelled like cheese curls! We raised $135.00 which we donated to the SPCA along with several bags of the baked treats! It was a fun way for the children to learn to give back to their community.
In addition to the academics, learning opportunities about other cultures and celebrations is part of the curriculum at Brookeside Montessori. We are now taking enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year.
