Our Passport to Adventure continues. The week of July 22 campers traveled to Africa!
On Monday we started our study of Africa booklets, African masks and African drums. We read wonderful books and listened to tranquil African music.
On Tuesday we had a group activity imagining that we were on an African safari and we had to work as a team to stay on our course (obstacle course) together. The campers did an amazing job working together!
On Wednesday we had Africa themed show and tell! We also learned traditional African dance and drum rhythms in preparation for our big end of week dance/drum celebration. We enjoyed an African inspired fruit salad that our campers prepared with bananas, mango, kiwi and watermelon!
On Thursday we made African inspired necklaces with beads and painted noodles. Campers loved painting the noodles with a stipple technique.
Friday we finished our week with a morning drum circle and dance. And in the afternoon, we had a field trip to Historic State Theatre of Boyertown to watch Lion King.
Brookeside’s child-centered educational environment provides activities and a Pennsylvania state approved curriculum appropriate to each child’s developmental stage. The integrated curricula are guided by a highly trained staff, who are aware of the needs of the individual child.
Enrollment is ongoing as space is available.
