Thanks to some special guests, the students at Brookeside Montessori know how to write their names in Chinese and learned about the celebration of Chinese New Year.
On February 19 Chinese people around the world celebrated the New Year. Chinese students from the Perkiomen School visited our Kindergarten – Grade 6 students to share about this important holiday.
Brookeside Montessori students also participated in fun activities to learn about the Chinese culture and customs. First they created their name tags and were intrigued by the Chinese characters for their names. Next students created dragon masks. Then a highlight of the day is when one of our guests performed several magic tricks. Lastly our guests demonstrated how to use chopsticks. This skill came in handy when the students in Grades 2 – 6 traveled to Panda Garden for lunch!
In addition to the academics, learning opportunities about other cultures and celebrations is part of the curriculum at Brookeside Montessori. We are now taking enrollment for the 2015-2016 school year. Join us for the next celebration!
