Summer Camp

Summer Camp Week 5 – Down on the Farm

Campers focused on various animals and life on the farm. We each had the opportunity to create their own farm and harvest bin where we will plant seeds, along with helping tend to Brookeside’s own garden. We also made a popular snack “pigs in a blanket”, and even doing farm-themed yoga! At the end of the week, we took a trip to a farm and petting zoo in Oley where we visited farm animals and learned more about the life of a farmer.

Summer Camp Week 4 – Picnic in the Park

In celebration of the 4th of July, we spent this week learning about the history and significance of this day. Through different crafts, books, and songs, we discussed the freedom of our nation, and what it means to us today. We demonstrated our pride in freedom as we created Statue of Liberty hats. During this week we also created our own lemonade stand and took a field trip to Washington Township Park to enjoy lunch and time on the playground.

Summer Camp Week 3 – Under the Big Top

Campers learned about the different components of the circus and explored what it would be like to join one! For example, we talked about the exciting, and sometimes dangerous, duties of a tight rope walker and lion tamer. At the end of the week, we had a circus of our own! We even got to make our own big top tent with the parachute and enjoy popcorn as a traditional circus snack. Nothing like clowning around on a Friday!

Summer Camp Week 2 – Buzz buzz buzz!

We were certainly busy bugs this week at summer camp! We began our week by making lady bug hats and grass skirts; creating the perfect, buggy costume. We learned about the different types of bee dances and used yellow paint and bubble wrap to make our own luscious, honey hives. Most campers would say that one of our favorite memories of the week was our last morning spent at Mrs. Marks’s woods.

Summer Camp Week 1 – Take us out to the ball game!

Brookeside's first week of our “Celebrate Summer” summer camp was out of the park! Each day, we dove into a different sport, while focusing on one of America’s favorite sports: baseball. We played balloon tennis and challenged ourselves with a new, friendly version called the Hungry Alligator. We ended our sports-filled week by combining all of our favorite sports into one “field day” afternoon!
