Summer Camp Week 7 – Zoo Adventures

What a “zoo”pendous week we had at summer camp! Our campers began the exciting week by making handprint flamingos and tie-dye peacocks. On Tuesday, we had a visitor from Party Animals, a traveling petting zoo. At the end of the week, we kept ourselves busy by making swinging monkeys, alligator sticks, and cooling ourselves off during water play. Overall, it is easy to say we had nothing less than a “zoo”per time!

Summer Camp Week 6 – Camping Out

This week we were expert campers and hikers! We talked about and practiced outdoor safety by putting together our own first aid kit. We went on a “Happy Camper” scavenger hunt to look for tools and items needed for a successful camping trip. Our campers also made their own fire-fly catching jars and pretended to sit by the “camp fire”, while tasting some healthified berry s’mores!

Summer Camp Week 5 – Down on the Farm

Campers focused on various animals and life on the farm. We each had the opportunity to create their own farm and harvest bin where we will plant seeds, along with helping tend to Brookeside’s own garden. We also made a popular snack “pigs in a blanket”, and even doing farm-themed yoga! At the end of the week, we took a trip to a farm and petting zoo in Oley where we visited farm animals and learned more about the life of a farmer.

Summer Camp Week 4 – Picnic in the Park

In celebration of the 4th of July, we spent this week learning about the history and significance of this day. Through different crafts, books, and songs, we discussed the freedom of our nation, and what it means to us today. We demonstrated our pride in freedom as we created Statue of Liberty hats. During this week we also created our own lemonade stand and took a field trip to Washington Township Park to enjoy lunch and time on the playground.

Summer Camp Week 3 – Under the Big Top

Campers learned about the different components of the circus and explored what it would be like to join one! For example, we talked about the exciting, and sometimes dangerous, duties of a tight rope walker and lion tamer. At the end of the week, we had a circus of our own! We even got to make our own big top tent with the parachute and enjoy popcorn as a traditional circus snack. Nothing like clowning around on a Friday!
