What is one way students at Brookeside Montessori get to practice scientific thinking and problem-solving?

Brookeside Montessori’s Annual Science Fair!

The students in the Elementary class participated in this annual event on March 23. They worked on their projects for several weeks using the scientific method of question, research, hypothesis, experimentation, and drawing a conclusion. At the science fair, students shared their projects with the school community, practicing public speaking skills.

One student enrolled in asked the question, “Does a person’s heartbeat increase when they watch a scary movie?” His hypothesis was that the heartbeat would increase. He had his family participate in the experiment by taking their pulse before and after watching a short a short film. He discovered his hypothesis was true.

Another student wondered which liquid would best clean a penny. She tested vinegar, dish soap, orange juice, and water. Her hypothesis was that dish soap would clean best, but after her experiment, she concluded vinegar was the best.
