New school year, new us! Brookeside Montessori has been a part of Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Institute for the past 2 years. The Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds Institute is a funding organization based in Pottstown that partners with public and private schools within the surrounding areas to create school programs for nutrition, physical activity, and health education. The overall goal of the Institute is to provide recourses to schools to promote both physical and emotional healthy habits, which lead to long-lasting healthy lifestyles. Brookeside believes that educating our students in making healthy food choices and incorporating exercise into our learning will make them happier and stronger, in both mind and body. Thus, we have become a part of the Institute by creating our B Well program.
On August 16th and 17th, Miss Poley and Miss Miller attended a two-day workshop organized by Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds to demonstrate effective ways to implement healthy habits into our classrooms and program. Presentations were given by professionals to share information about physical and emotional well-being strategies and successful programs that have worked over the years. Our teachers not only gained more resources, but also collaborated with teachers and staff members from other schools to share ideas and talk about how to apply new strategies into our B Well program. We are so excited to use our new knowledge and make our program even more fun and successful!
On the second day of the event, Miss Poley and Miss Miller were honored to give a presentation about our B Well program. We were one of the top four schools to not only motivate students and families to participate in the program, but do so in creative and educational ways! Go Brookeside! In the presentation, they shared our goals and fun B Well events such as our Leapathon, field day, school garden, FITKids, Brain gym, YMCA fitness instruction, and our water promotion artwork. We are so glad to be represented as one of the top four schools and will continue to share our love for healthy living with our students this year. Let’s all B Well!
