Students in Pre-K and Kindergarten have been learning about apples during the month of September.
The children enjoyed going on a field trip to Bauman’s for a tour about making apple butter. The children were able to observe the process of making apple butter from start to finish: from choosing an apple to send up the chute, watching apples being pressed, the cooking process and then the canning/labeling process. On a trip to Frecon’s orchard. The students learned about the different types of apple trees, what apples need to grow, how to gently pick apples, and much more. Each child brought home a bag of apples that they carefully picked by hand. At school the children made applesauce and enjoyed a delicious snack!
