An Antarctic Adventure with Brookeside Summer Camp

On Monday we started our study off with Antarctica booklets, Antarctica animals and Antarctica inspired art. We read wonderful books and listened to tranquil sounds of Antarctica. Friday we created gorgeous polar bear wet on wet watercolor portraits using a crayon resist technique and Epsom salt. Referred to as Aurora Antarctica, the southern lights, or aurora australis can best be seen from the most southern of landmasses.

Our Passport to Adventure continues. The week of July 22 campers traveled to Africa! On Monday we started our study of Africa booklets, African masks, and African drums. We read wonderful books and listened to tranquil African music. It was an adventure-filled week that finished with a morning drum circle and dance. And in the afternoon, we had a field trip to Historic State Theatre of Boyertown to watch Lion King.

A Trip Through Asia with Brookeside Summer Camp

Where's My Passport? YAY! Asia TODAY! Brookeside Montessori Summer Camp "travels" in Asia this week (July 15-19, 2019). Our mixed-age group of campers ages 3-8 assisted each other with projects, games, cooking and geography lessons revolving around the continent of ASIA! Some of our faves: a "Color Race" and mango lassi from India, "fireworks" art project, Chinese lanterns, and koi windsock for Children's Day in Japan.
