We began the ninth week of summer camp by indulging in the sweet, gooey, and chocolate coated signature Australian dessert: the Tasmanian Treat. Our taste buds were very pleased to say the least! We decorated simple materials such as plates and bowls to create our own version of the hat that Mem Fox brings to life in her story "The Magic Hat". We also learned about the geography and culture of Australia and compared it to our own. After a quick reflection on the summer, campers said goodbye to their good friends at Brookeside...until next time!

The Boyertown Community Library's Poetry Troop visited Brookeside Montessori Summer Camp. The troop recited poems from poets, like Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein, using props and dramatization. Brookeside Montessori campers enjoyed the performance, especially the poem Union for Children's Rights.

Brookeside Montessori's eighth week of summer camp on our Reading Rocks Adventure was about Dr. Seuss. We started the week with The Cat and the Hat and made Thing One and Thing Two with our handprints. Do you like green eggs and ham? Yes, most of our campers agreed that our cooking activity was fun and delicious! The highlight of the week was a visit from Marcy of Giggle Magic. Campers enjoyed her Silly Seuss Show.

A week of celebrating our pets, friendships, and families! During our seventh week of camp we enjoyed many stories from author and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats. We started the week reading Pet Show! and then later in the week we read the story Hi Cat! Campers practiced writing skills after reading A Letter to Amy and created a family tree including their pets after listening to the story Peter's Chair.

Our sixth week of camp featured stories from author and illustrator Jan Brett. We participated in many activities inspired by her books. We started the week off in a western way learning a simple square dance and reading Armadillo Rodeo. We read several stories featuring the character Hedgie and our last story of the week was The Umbrella.
