Students in the Brookeside Montessori PM Enrichment Class have been participating in weekly science experiments involving land, air, and water. Some recent highlights: float and sink, absorb vs. repel, needs of plants and animals biomes of the world, density of liquids, states of matter, and ALL ABOUT BUBBLES!
Leap for Joy – It's Leap Day at Brookeside Montessori School! Each class participated in our first ever Leapathon, on--you guessed it--Leap Day! Pictured are Miss Brianna Poley instructing the Elementary Class in Zumba. Kindergarten students did the fave of the day THE GUMMI BEAR DANCE, other dances included the Cha Cha and Swing Dance. There was also Tae Kwon Do. All instructors are members of our wellness committee. Funds raised benefit Brookeside HSA . This activity supports our new healthy fundraisers initiative which reduces unhealthy food sales and promotes physical activity in our students and staff alike.
January and February have been busy months for PM Kindergarten! In Social Studies, we finished our exploration of Europe with discussion of Ireland, England, Italy and Spain. The children completed many projects, but their favorites included drawing themselves holding up the Leaning Tower of Pisa and building a (not quite scale) model of Stonehenge.
Our resident nutrition expert, Chef Nicole Miller brought fresh, local, raw, kale to Brookeside Montessori School on Thursday, January 14th and helped the children try it raw (Kale/Granny Apple juice) and prepared (Fresh Kale Chips and Kale Saute'!) All classes participated. Our favorite overall was the raw juice! The children drank it right up! Chef Nikki will be presenting fresh, local healthy lunch box ideas to staff and parents in the Fall! We really look forward to it!
