It has been a busy month for Afternoon Kindergarten! We learned about the Statue of Liberty and the bald eagle; We discussed two Native American groups, the Leni Lenape and the Lakota; Canada and sugar maples and Niagra Falls; In Science, we turned out attention to anatomy.

Who can tell me the name of a famous American?

On October 6 the Brookeside Montessori Elementary class visited Art Fusion, 254 E. High Street, Pottstown, PA. The students viewed the latest exhibit Her Story, an educational show featuring artwork inspired by women’s history. Miss Julie read a story about women's suffrage, Marching with Aunt Susan. Afterwards the students were tasked to pick an important cause, develop a slogan, and then create a banner. "Who can tell me the name of a famous American?" The students have some amazing answers for that question now.

World Day of Peace at Brookeside

On Monday, September 21, 2015, students at Brookeside Montessori School, near Boyertown, celebrated ‘World Day of Peace’. Together, they sang “Light a Candle for Peace” by Shelly Murley and students placed pinwheels in the front garden of the school. Brookeside Montessori promotes peace and community through inclusive school activities, service projects, and the use of multi-age groupings throughout our school.

Healthy Lifestyles at Brookeside

Also during Fall we have participated in yoga, Brain Gym, Wee Workout, and track and field practices. We are just beginning Soccer Shots and a larger number of 2-4 year old students are participating this year!  I believe this is due to the coach attending our family picnic, so that families could see what constituted [...]

Student Gardening Program

The Student Gardening Program at Brookeside Montessori School. Our summer gardening program has harvested lettuce, radishes, tomatoes and herbs. Now, in Fall, our students, including Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes harvested our Autumn garden. We raked out potatoes and pulled turnips and red beets!
