Chef Nikki Says “Try Two Bites!”

Our resident nutrition expert, Chef Nicole Miller brought fresh, local, raw, kale to Brookeside Montessori School on Thursday, January 14th and helped the children try it raw (Kale/Granny Apple juice) and prepared (Fresh Kale Chips and Kale Saute'!) All classes participated. Our favorite overall was the raw juice! The children drank it right up! Chef Nikki will be presenting fresh, local healthy lunch box ideas to staff and parents in the Fall! A Visit From The Smile Specialists

Dr. Sarah Pavlow, a local orthodontist, and her assistant Robin recently visited the students and shared facts about teeth and the steps we need to take to ensure that they are healthy.

Brookeside Montessori’s Annual Science Fair!

The students in the Elementary class participated in this annual event on January 22. Each student worked on their project for several weeks using the scientific method of question, research, hypothesis, experimentation, and drawing a conclusion. At the science fair students shared their projects with the school community, practicing public speaking skills.

A Caring Community

The Elementary class at Brookeside Montessori are participating in a special community service project. They have been visiting Frederick Living, A Retirement Community. On their first visit the students planted bulbs in a flower bed. Since then they have celebrated a birthday with one of the residents, participated in games and crafts, and right before the holidays went caroling.
