Story of the First Thanksgiving

On Wednesday, November 16 two pilgrims came to Brookeside Montessori to tell us the story of the first Thanksgiving. They showed our curious students foods the pilgrims would have eaten and the tools they would have used. After the presentation, each class had an opportunity to use these items. At the end of the event each child got to meet Jack, a live turkey.

Thanksgiving at Brookeside

We played traditional pilgrim games, husked corn, muddled cranberries into a sauce, grounded corn into cornmeal, and pet a real turkey named Jack!
