Our second annual Jack O'Lantern Jubilee was last week. At sunset, families were invited to come view the pumpkins all aglow! The Perk up Truck was also here to serve delicious drinks and treats!
Cauliflower is part of the cabbage family - you can eat it raw, add it to salads, or make a healthier version of “mashed potatoes” with it. Roast cauliflower with olive oil and fresh herbs and serve it as a side dish.
Seckel pears are thought to be the only true American pear variety. They are believed to have originated in the early 1800s as a wild seedlings in Philadelphia. The pears we had for snack came from Weaver’s Orchard in Morgantown, PA.
This week's healthy snack is broccoli. Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family and is known as a superfood. It's low in calories but contains many vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
We had a very exciting month at Brookeside Montessori. We learned so many exciting facts about each other with our first project of the school year - we presented our “All About Me” bags to our classmates. In Social Studies and Science, we discussed Johnny Appleseed. In Geography, we introduced the largest type of landform and the largest bodies of water on our planet.
