Hoppin’ the Hawaiian Way!

Children created and wore leis, grass skirts and hibiscus flower hairpieces.  The students had a snack of pink drinks and fresh fruit kabobs. We had a guest musician at the event too. Miss Christiana taught us about the history of the ukulele. Its name literally means’ hopping like fleas, because you have to make your fingers hop to play it. She also performed a half-hour concert of ukulele and voice numbers, accompanied by her brother Santino, on piano.  Students danced and sang along, and a great time was had by all!
