This fall the Elementary students at Brookeside Montessori enjoyed lessons and activities on different bird species.

The students dissected owl pellets to investigate what an owl eats. Looking through the regurgitated parts it was exciting to find bones. We compared our findings to a skeleton chart and realized that these owls ate shrews and moles.

We also went on a field trip to Hawk Mountain. It was a beautiful day for a hike and a picnic. Students relied on the guides to point out the different migrating birds and eagerly looked on through their binoculars.
